Bachelor in English language and Master in English literature and civilization from Tlemcen university in Algeria, PhD student in African studies. He worked as translator and interpreter in the Saharawi refugee camps, where he was born and grew up together with thousands of saharawis who had to flee their homeland due to the Moroccan annexation. He was part of different voluntary groups doing political activism and defending the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination and for the respect of their human rights. He started to work in the field of international cooperation with the Danish NGO Danish Refugee Council in 2016. From April 2019, Mahfud became NOVACT Representative to Western Sahara.
