XII Marcha por la Dignidad en Ceuta
Given the situation of impunity at the southern border, society continues to demand justice. After 11 years since the deaths at El Tarajal, the need to achieve justice and reparations has been brought back to the table.
As every year, activists, collectives, and people who have come from different geographies have expressed their rejection of the border system, the violence, and the lack of investigation into human rights violations.
Thanks, above all, to the collective work and coordination led by the Elin Association, the XII March for Dignity in Ceuta was held once again in memory of the victims and to demand justice, truth, and reparations. You can read the manifesto, watch the videos, and see the photos on the official accounts of MarchaTarajal.
On the day of commemoration in Ceuta, February 8, a roundtable discussion took place with the participation of Patuca Fernández, Marra Junior, Loueila Sid Ahmed Ndiaye, and Sani Ladan. In the afternoon, the March for Dignity marched through the streets of Ceuta, demanding justice and an end to violence, death, and impunity at the borders.
Finally, the March reached El Tarajal Beach, where a memorial event was held. Unlike previous years, it is worth noting the presence of numerous officers from the National Police’s U.I.P. guarding the fence.
